Program description
Mississauga Community Services operates the Youth Housing Navigator (YHN)
program, which aims to support young individuals aged 16-30 in the region of peel by
helping them find and maintain safe and affordable housing.
Through this program, a dedicated staff person assesses applicants’ financial
situations to determine suitable housing options within a realistic and sustainable price
range. Subsidies are provided based on the unit’s cost and the applicant’s income,
ensuring long-term affordability. Eligible individuals may receive a maximum subsidy of
$500 per month, directly paid to the landlord, for up to one year or until funding
availability permits.
The YHN program offers drop-in housing resource navigation support at the Youth
Community Wellness Centre located at 1090 Dundas Street East, 2 nd floor. These drop-
in sessions take place on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.,
excluding holidays. The support is available to all youth aged 16-30, regardless of
whether they are already enrolled in the program.
These events occur multiple times during the year on the 2 nd floor at 1090 Dundas
Street East, Mississauga as well as in various community settings. Information and
promotional materials for these workshops are typically distributed 6-8 weeks prior to
the event.
If you are interested in learning more about these workshops, Rent Smart
certification, or exploring potential partnerships with the program in the
