Services for Black Children

Services for Black Children

We provide culturally sensitive programs that address the behavioral and emotional needs of children as they strive to develop a positive attitude towards school and their community. These programs also offer support to parents, who may need guidance in managing their child’s social and interpersonal development.

2024 Children’s Summer Camp

In its first year of operation, this children’s summer camp demonstrated its potential.

In partnership with the Toronto District School Board, the 6-week camp creates a space for children to learn African drumming and dance, create cultural arts and crafts, play Aware, visit Black-owned businesses, and attend weekly outings so that they can gain exposure to the world around them.

The children learn about Black history with a view to strengthening a strong sense of self and cultural identity

Services for Black Youth

We offer culturally sensitive programs to assist young men and women ages 16-24 to successfully transition from their involvement with the Justice System to a meaningful family and community life. We also offer support through everyday transitions and stresses.

Our current youth programs are:

  • Youth Outreach Program (Y.O.W.)
  • Express yourself’ / Anger Management Program
  • Individual counseling
  • Post-release aftercare
  • Provincial Youth Outreach
    YOW Program
  • The YOW Program is a prevention and intervention program that supports high-risk youth to make healthy life choices.
  • The YOW Program focuses on at-risk and high-risk youth who live in an identified priority community and/or belong to a distinct priority population (e.g., Racialized, Indigenous,  African  LGBTTQ2S).
  • These youth may experience increased barriers in accessing the opportunities that can help them to develop their capacity to make healthy life choices and achieve their goals.
